PPMA is proud to congratulate Ava Simmons (Pittsburgh) on being selected as the recipient of the PPMA Scholarship. Ava is the daughter of member, Renae Daniels-Simmons, DPM. A student at Avonworth High School, Ava Simmons, has demonstrated a strong commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and service. Through involvement as an employee of Masonic Villages Retirement Living, she has developed valuable skills and a passion for making a positive impact in the profession and community. Reflecting on this achievement, Ava shared that she has "witnessed how a good nurse can bring comfort, peace, and reassurance during such a such a diffult time. A compassionate nurse can ease pain, communicate honestly, and support families through grief, making an unbearable situation more manageable." Looking ahead, Ava plans to attend the University of Alabama as a Nursing Major, with the goal of spending time with the patient, directly impacting the patient's well-being and the family. The scholarship will help support her educational journey and continued professional development. One of her teachers says, "She is deeply empathetic, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word to her peers," which will all serve her well in her future career path. We congratulate Ava and her family on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to seeing the many contributions she will make in the future.
