They say if you want something done, ask a busy person. That certainly describes Shelly Levulis, DPM, who seamlessly balances the responsibilities of private practice ownership, leadership within the Pennsylvania Podiatric Medical Association (PPMA), and a deep commitment to serving her community.

Dr. Levulis owns and operates her podiatry practice in Luzerne County. Recently, she further invested in the future of her practice by acquiring the building that houses her office—a decision that reflects her long-term commitment to both her patients and the community she proudly serves.

Her dedication doesn’t end when the office closes for the day.

Driven by a desire to make a meaningful difference beyond patient care, Dr. Levulis became involved with the Plymouth Rotary Club, where she currently serves as president. Leading approximately 30 fellow Rotarians, she helps guide projects that improve the lives of individuals and families throughout the region.

The club’s work is grounded in Rotary’s Four-Way Test, which asks:

· Is it the truth?

· Is it fair to all concerned?

· Will it build goodwill and better friendships?

· Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Inspired by these principles, the Plymouth Rotary Club identified an opportunity to support families affected by autism. Through its grant efforts, the club proudly presented a $10,000 donation to KBS Academy, helping expand resources and programming for children with autism spectrum disorder and their families.

For Dr. Levulis, this initiative was much more than another successful community project—it was deeply personal.

Her son, Sammy, has autism. While she describes Sammy as someone who brings joy and light to everyone around him, she also understands firsthand the importance of providing families with safe, welcoming, and sensory-friendly spaces where children can learn, grow, and thrive. Supporting organizations like KBS Academy allows her to help create those same opportunities for other families navigating similar experiences.

Dr. Levulis brings that same spirit of service to PPMA. Since joining the PPMA Board of Directors in 2023, she has been an active participant in advancing initiatives that strengthen the profession and benefit podiatrists throughout Pennsylvania. Her willingness to share her time, experience, and leadership has made her a valued member of the Board and a strong advocate for the association’s mission.

Whether caring for patients, leading fellow Rotarians, advocating for the profession, or championing opportunities for children with autism and their families, Dr. Levulis exemplifies the power of servant leadership.
