“Love is Afoot,” a foot-themed musical, is scheduled for performances in Reading, PA, in August of 2023. The Miller Center for Performing Arts at Reading Community College is the venue for a show that members may “get a kick out of” this summer!
PPMA Members interested in learning more about the staged workshop presentation can visit www.loveisafoot.com to learn more about the musical and purchase tickets to one of four upcoming performances on August 4th and August 12th weekends.
Pennsylvania Podiatrists have the opportunity to contribute!
The staged workshop presentation allows approximately 300 people to view the show and stay after for a Q&A to provide feedback to perfect the workshop. Investors and producers will be on site as this is an opportunity to get the musical to a level of full production on a much bigger stage like Broadway!
One does not need to travel to Broadway to see the talent on an excellent show, as this production boasts talent that we have here in Pennsylvania.
Here is a quick summary of the talent.:
- The script was written by Michael Lacey (Producer from Los Angeles), a Reading native.
- The team of talented actors has been recruited from throughout the state (Lancaster, Reading, and Philadelphia.
- The award-winning musical soundtrack is the brainchild of composer Perry Sachs (“Happy Madison”/Adam Sandler).
- The music was perfected by Tim Davis (Glee, Lady Gaga, Barbara Streisand).
- Santo D. Marabella has been brought on as The Stage Workshop Producer and Director. He has been involved with dozens of productions.
- Laura Bell Bundy, Tony-nominated Broadway and film star, is the show’s Creative Producer.
- The show’s Composer is the talented Kevin Guillaume (son of Robert Guillaume from the television show “Benson.”)
Passion for Feet
Those that attend the show's workshops in August can enjoy following a theme about two main characters that both have a passion for feet in different ways and how they complement one another and seem to make a “good fit!”
PA Proud
All of this and more takes place in the 1940s in Reading, PA, when many walked to work and produced stockings in the Reading factory. PA Proud-themed products make their way into the musical, including pretzels that were mass-produced in PA and enjoyed by many throughout the country.
Finding a SOLEmate in Reading, PA
The music can be streamed at no cost by visiting www.loveisafoot.com. The lyrics are entertaining as we think our members may enjoy songs such as “Waiting for the other shoe to drop” and lyrics about the main character trying to find his "SOLEmate", a cute play on words.
