Student Spotlight on Rana Ali, TUSPM Class of 2029

Posted By Jeannette Louise, Tuesday, September 29, 2026
Rana Ali, a 2nd-year podiatric medical student at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine (TUSPM), shares her experience with our members.
Rana is from Alexandria, Egypt, and tells us, "Podiatry is such a hidden gem. I wish more pre-med applicants knew about this career path. As student doctors, we receive a comprehensive, well-rounded medical education. Still, we are also privileged to get a head start in our specialization and become true experts & surgeons of the lower extremity. I would encourage anyone interested to shadow podiatrists in your area and reach out to current students! We are passionate about the field and love welcoming new prospective students."
In ten years, she sees herself as a practicing foot and ankle surgeon. She added that she would love to keep contributing to free clinics and expanding healthcare access for underserved populations in the United States and internationally!
When asked why PPMA membership is important, she states that "PPMA membership keeps students up to date on local, state, and national issues that affect us as future podiatrists!"
PPMA continues to offer membership at no cost to podiatric medical students in Pennsylvania, giving them early access to everything our association offers, from discounts and savings on everyday items to advocacy and up-to-date communications. Students can apply for membership online.
