Radiology Safety Continuing Education Opportunities
The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is strongly ‘encouraging’ persons who operate X-Ray systems to receive a contact hour of training in radiation safety once a year or four contact hours over four years. Again this is only a recommendation, not a requirement. The DEP offers several continuing education options, including a PowerPoint file of information to review before taking a practical knowledge exam. The PDF can be found online at http://tinyurl.com/RadSafetyPowerPoint. Upon review of the PowerPoint, you can take the accompanying quiz: http://tinyurl.com/RadSafetyQuiz for proof of your participation.
For an additional educational opportunity, the Goldfarb Foundation plans to continue offering the Radiology Safety lecture at future Goldfarb Foundation Clinical Conferences (check the current year lecture schedule to confirm date and time of lecture). Registrants for the Clinical Conference who attend the session during which the Radiology Safety lecture is given will receive a separate certificate to note their attendance at the Radiology Safety lecture.
Proof of participation in the above mentioned activities should be filed with your X-ray equipment maintenance paperwork.
